Kick-Off: 16-6-2006, 1300hrs in Gelsenkirchen
Argentina: Maxi Rodríguez (5') (40'), Esteban Cambiasso (30') , Hernán Crespo (77') , Lionel Messi (87'), Carlos Tévez (83')

Argentina produced a awesome stunning result of 6-0,
and demolished Serbia and Montenegro in a scintillating style.
The massacre of Serbia & Montenegro by Argentina.
6-0.
A score enough to make Brazil be wary of their fellow South Americans.
This was a perfect exhibition of football.
They were absolutely amazing.
The Serbs were butchered,
and Argentina sliced their defence apart.
Argentina will be a team to watch.
The warning has sounded.
It's time to stop ignoring potential party spoilers Argentina.

Kick-Off: 16-6-2006, 1900hrs in Hanover
Mexico 0 - 0 Angola

Angola did a good job in holding Gruop D leaders Mexico in a goaless draw.
Nothing much.
OOOH,
Singaporean referee Shamsul Maidin was the referee of this match.
And he showed the red card to Angola midfielder Andre Macanga after the second bookable offence.
He has also sent a player off for an early shower in the game between Sweden and Trinidad & Tobago.
And he was spot on for both occasions.
Yay!
He made me proud, somehow.
I think he is the second Singaporean referee to be chosen by the FIFA to be a ref at the world's top level of football.
Second.
The first guy was there at the World Cup like 30 years ago?
Can't remember.

Kick-Off: 16-6-2006, 1600hrs in Stuttgart
Netherlands 2 - 1 Ivory Coast
Netherlands: Robin van Persie (22'), Ruud van Nistelrooy (26')
Ivory Coast: Bakary Koné (37')

Goals from Robin van Persie and Ruud van Nistelrooy sealed a place in the last 16 for Holland and condemn Ivory Coast to start packing early and head home.
But Ivory Coast do deserve some sympathy too.

As Eugene has said.
Lionel Messi.
A wonderkid.
